What to expect from a Nutritional Therapy programme

Initially I recommend working with a client for a minimum of 3 months a minimum of 1 initial and 2 x follow ups sessions, for quicker progress I suggest more sessions at fortnightly intervals.

The amount of follow ups required will depend on your needs. These include; the current health state of your body and your mentoring needs in order to undertake your personalised plan, and how successful you would like to be in achieving your health and wellbeing goals. Some conditions can take more time to resolve and I am here to enable you on this journey whether it is 3 months or 12 – or more.

Pre-consultation

You will have a free 20-minute health call to discuss your needs and health concerns.

Once you have been booked in for your initial consultation you will be sent a confidential and detailed health history, lifestyle and diet questionnaire to fill in and send back to me a minimum of 48 hours before your appointment. The more information you can provide will make a big difference to your consultation and the help your practitioner can provide.

The initial consultation includes:

  • Taking a thorough medical and health history

  • Reviewing your current objectives, diet, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing and nutritional supplements

  • Discussing any current and relevant test results

  • Providing you with initial nutritional advice to take away from appointment

  • Initial handouts, info sheets, recipe ideas as appropriate

  • Ordering any appropriate functional tests

  • After the appointment I will fully research all information gathered and create a fully personalised nutrition plan detailing your health action points agreed at your consultation. Your personalised plan will include bespoke dietary suggestions, lifestyle, yoga and holistic practice advice and supplement recommendations if appropriate. This will be accompanied by information sheets and recipes.

  • Your plan will be sent within 3-5 working days of your appointment for you to incorporate straight away. You will also have a short 20minute telephone call one or 2 weeks after receiving your plan to check-in on your progress and to answer any queries you may have.

  • We will always work to your individual needs and budget requirements for food and supplements.

The follow up consultation includes:

  • Monitoring your response to the initial plan including submission of a food diary

  • Discussion of what worked well for you, what you found challenging, any additional support you may need in continuing to make positive changes

  • Explanation of any tests we carried out, along with a written report

  • Further handouts, recipe ideas or resources as required

  • Updated plan including dietary, lifestyle & supplement recommendations, in line with any testing results and your progress or feedback since the initial consultation

  • Order any follow up testing needed as treatment progress

  • After the appointment I will obtain further research based on any information gathered and testing results to support in your ongoing nutritional & wellness plan.

  • Any changes to your plan will be sent within 3 working days of your appointment. You will also have a short 20minute telephone call one or 2 weeks after receiving your plan to check-in on your progress and to answer any queries you may have.

Subsequent follow ups include:

  • Monitor your response to your plan including submission of a food diary

  • Discussion of what worked well for you, what you found challenging, any additional support you may need in continuing to make positive changes

  • Explain any new lab findings and order further follow up testing needed as your plan progresses

  • Adjust treatment (targeted dietary and lifestyle guidelines & personalised supplement program) based upon laboratory findings and your level of responsiveness.

  • After the appointment I will obtain further research based on any information gathered and testing results to support in your ongoing nutritional & wellness plan.

  • Any changes to your plan will be sent within 3 working days of your appointment. You will also have a short 20-minute telephone call or email follow-up one or 2 weeks after receiving your plan to check-in on your progress and to answer any queries you may have.

Please note; Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for medical advice and I always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. I frequently work alongside medical professionals and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.
